Here are a few examples of where we have successfully agreed Arrangements with creditors.

  • SB was widowed in 1998 and, until that time, had managed to keep her debts under control. Without realising it though, after her husband’s death, SB continued to incur debts which she could no longer afford to repay, with the household income however halved. SB found she was borrowing from one credit card to pay another. Because SB will be retiring in a few years time, she asked Finebridge to advise on an IVA plan to help clear her debts before retirement. A successful IVA is now in place for SB to pay monthly instalments for five years and creditors have agreed to write off the balance of £52,000.
  • FW and his wife had always been irresponsible when using their credit cards. However, as FW had worked for the same company for many years, paying their bills was never a problem. In 2001, FW’s circumstances changed however when he left his job and his regular income fell by £500 a month. With a new baby to support also, FW could see his debts rising out of control. After unsuccessfully trying a Debt Management Plan, FW contacted Finebridge to help sort out a permanent solution. By consolidating all FW’s creditors into an IVA, Finebridge arranged for FW to repay a total of £18,620 against accumulative debts of almost £35,000.
  • In 1999 LP’s marriage ended. Although paying rent, LP also continued to pay his share of the mortgage on the marital home until the property could be sold. A few months later LP was made redundant and had to use credit cards for necessities, including travel expenses for job interviews. When the house was sold, LP used his share of the proceeds to reduce his credit card balances. Unfortunately it was 18 months before LP gained regular employment, by which time his debts had escalated out of control. He asked Finebridge for help and we reached an agreement with creditors whereby LP will pay £300 monthly for 5 years and the remaining balance will be written off.
  • RA lives in rented accommodation in the Midlands. His problems began in March 2004 when he was made redundant. He covered his expenditure on credit cards whilst he was unemployed and when he eventually found work, he was forced to relocate. Having moved, his partner was then unable to secure employment, which brought further pressure on the household. He has also suffered from his employers making late salary payments which have resulted in bounced cheques and bank charges. With his finances beginning to get out of control he turned to Finebridge and within weeks we had secured an IVA with creditors. RA now pays a monthly standing order to us and we deal with all his creditors. RA is free to concentrate on his career, leaving his financial problems to us.
  • In 2002 our client MW walked away from his marriage with nothing but debts as a result of the divorce settlement. In addition he was forced to make payments via the CSA and began to borrow on credit cards to meet the payments. Having struggled to make ends meet for twelve months MW has finally begun to rebuild his life and as the final piece of the jigsaw, Finebridge has obtained agreement with creditors to accept monthly payments of £350 over five years in settlement of debts totalling £47,000. Our client now has peace of mind and structure to his finances. In five years he will be debt free.
  • In 2004 Mr SD became involved in a dispute with his employers and was forced to accept a redundancy package as a result. Having left his well paid job SD was unemployed for several months and unable to claim any benefit as he was deemed to have left his job voluntarily. During this time he "robbed Peter to pay Paul" and his credit card balances grew until he was no longer able to meet the minimum payments.
He eventually found a job which meant relocating to the South and selling his property. This he did but was left with a shortfall in paying out secured lenders. Finebridge wrapped all his debts into one package and agreed with creditors monthly repayments of £950. The IVA, agreed by all parties, allows DS to pay back £57,000 of his total debt of £129,000 at which stage the rest will be written off.
  • Mr GM a postal worker from Coventry had an investment property which was repossessed by the Bank in 1997. Since then he has struggled to repay the shortfall of £23,000. Two years ago his problems worsened when he was switched from a lucrative night shift and endured a large drop in salary. He has attempted to consolidate his debts but this has not stopped his debts increasing. With nowhere else to turn he chose Finebridge. We put an IVA to his creditors offering £340 per month for five years in full and final settlement of his total debts of £53,000.
  • Mr FP, aged 31, living in Kent was made redundant in 2001 when his employers went into liquidation. He received no payment and was unemployed for three months, causing him to borrow on credit cards to replace lost income. He secured new employment only to be laid off again. After a further period unemployed he attempted to consolidate his debts with a Bank loan. His credit card borrowing continued to escalate though and his health suffered due to the financial burden. We negotiated an IVA with creditors and he now pays just £300 per month. Debts of £39,000 will be wiped clear in five years and Mr FP's health has improved considerably.
